Rail joint disease: joint collapse

Joint collapse is a common disease of joints. It can be seen intuitively that the ballast at the end of the sleeper collapses, the end and bottom of the sleeper are exposed, the stone ballast on both sides of the sleeper is strung to the center of the track and is higher than the sleeper surface, the ballast becomes rounded, the edges of the ballast are protruding unevenly, and the track bed is hardened, muddy and muddy.

The rail surface of the rail joint is statically uneven, especially when the rail head has wrong teeth, large rail seams, or the rail end is damaged, the wheels will produce a huge impact force on the rail and the torsional torque of the fastener is insufficient or the fastener fails, and the rail joint wears unevenly. If the bottom contact surface is rounded without ballast, joint collapse will occur.

Remedy methods for joint collapse

(1) Starting from the rail itself, we must first polish the rail, adjust rail seams, weld and repair damaged joints, and replace failed fasteners and connecting parts in a timely manner.

(2) For the joints where the track bed is hardened, the bottom must be broken and screened, the rounded ballast must be replaced, and the failed rail bottom rubber pads must be replaced. After the line is stabilized, the joints must be replaced with high-elastic rubber pads.

(3) If the contact surface of the pillow bottom is rounded and does not hold ballast, the sleepers must be replaced in time.

(4) Adjust the large rail seams to keep the rail seams uniform and reasonable. If the rail seams are individually too large, pull the rail seams in time to solve the problem; if the rail seams are generally large, the rails should be re-aligned to eliminate large rail seams.
