Testing the anchoring strength of spiral spikes on concrete sleepers
Aug 13, 2025| The pullout strength test of spiral spikes on concrete sleepers should be conducted on sleepers with spikes already anchored. This can be done using a "Sulfur Anchor Strength Tester for Spiral Spikes on Concrete Sleepers" or a "Digital Railway Spike Pullout Strength Tester." 󠄢󠄧󠄩󠄡󠄩󠄧󠄩󠄧󠄩󠄬󠅒󠅢󠄟󠄮󠇘󠆭󠆘󠇙󠆝󠅵󠇗󠆭󠆁󠄐󠇗󠅹󠅸󠇖󠆍󠅳󠇖󠅹󠅰󠇖󠆌󠅹󠄬󠅒󠅢󠄟󠄮
1. Use "Concrete Sleeper Spike Sulfur Anchor Strength Tester" for testing
1) Install the detector
(1) Screw the tie rod and crossbar together onto the spike to be tested.
(2) Place the column on the rail sleeper shoulder and connect it with the adjusting nut.
(3) Place the jack on the sleeper platform, turn the adjusting nut or press the jack handle to make the upper end of the jack contact with the beam (no force is applied at this time), and keep the beam basically level. 󠄐󠄹󠅀󠄪󠄢󠄡󠄨󠄞󠄡󠄞󠄢󠄠󠄡󠄧󠄧󠄬󠅒󠅢󠄟󠄮󠄐󠅅󠄹󠄴󠄪󠄡󠄬󠅒󠅢󠄟󠄮󠄾󠅑󠅝󠅕󠄪󠄡󠄣󠄢󠄧󠄩󠄡󠄩󠄧󠄩󠄧󠄩󠄬

2) Check the pull-out resistance
(1) Turn the dial indicator so that the pointer points to zero.
(2) Press the jack handle to apply force to the spike. 󠄐󠄹󠅀󠄪󠄢󠄡󠄨󠄞󠄡󠄞󠄢󠄠󠄡󠄧󠄧󠄬󠅒󠅢󠄟󠄮󠄐󠅅󠄹󠄴󠄪󠄡󠄬󠅒󠅢󠄟󠄮󠄾󠅑󠅝󠅕󠄪󠄡󠄣󠄢󠄧󠄩󠄡󠄩󠄧󠄩󠄧󠄩󠄬󠅒󠅢󠄟

The pull-out strength of the spiral road spike anchorage shall not be less than 60kN. All of them are qualified if they reach 60kN. If more than one spike fails, double the sample size. All spikes must reach 60 kN to qualify. If there are still any that fail, each spike must be inspected individually and any that fail must be re-anchored. 2. Use the "Digital Railway Spike Pullout Tester" for testing. First, screw the spike to be tested onto the conversion connector and pull rod. Place the hollow jack on top, place a gasket, and tighten the nut. Then, insert the oil pipe quick connector on the manual pump onto the hollow jack. Tighten the drain valve clockwise by hand. At this time, when the manual pump is pressurized, the oil cylinder will rise. At the same time, the digital kN meter value will gradually increase from 0.00 kN as the pressure rises. When the oil pump is pressurized to no less than 60 kN, stop pressurizing. After that, observe whether the concrete around the spike has any signs of damage or cracks. Only then can the qualified spike be determined. After the test is completed, rotate the drain valve counterclockwise. The oil cylinder will automatically and slowly return to its original state.

The pull-out strength test of the nylon tube of concrete sleeper uses a matching component, which is installed in the nylon tube and the same method is used to detect and read the value.
